Genuine Bosch points are solid tungsten. It is common to have some pitting. The normal procedure is to file or wet stone the point flat, clean thoroughly, re-gap and time. Naturally, proper (special) distributor lube must be used on the point lobe to assure normal lobe life. I, personally, have run the same 009 distributor, with this maintenance to the points for over 80,000 miles without replacement of the points (cap and rotor were replaced once). |
