Berg longer stroke cranks up to 92mm can be used in the VW and some aftermarket blocks with appropriately longer rods with complete reliability. The problem is that the cylinders are too short to maintain proper guidance to the piston when longer than 86mm are used. The piston is pulled out of the cylinder so far it often breaks. For race applications some customers use aftermarket cylinders to resolve this problem. This is not recommended for daily driven vehicles. Daily street cars should not use longer than 86mm for maximum life unless the cylinder is lengthened. No, we do not offer this service. GB 195 Special orders such as 88, 90, 92, 94mm all come with the 3 large mains made to the 411 size. These can be made with gland nut or 411 bolt pattern for VW or Waterboxer. Requires full payment before work is started and once work is started cannot be canceled. These take from 14 to 18 weeks to deliver. Crankshaft description notes: 1. VW rod diameter and 0.895" width, uses rods such as GB 190, 190S, 191S, 191, Carrillo 193VW. 2. Porsche diameter and 0.790" width.
